About Tracy...

From a young age I knew that I wanted to be an interior designer. On weekends I would tour model homes with my mother and was fascinated by what I saw. Architecture, furnishings and lighting caught my eye; I knew then that I wanted to be an interior designer. I had such a passion for design, that at the age of 10, I managed to win my elementary school's speech contest, declaring, "When I grow up, I want to be an interior designer."

I went on to attend Michigan State University, where I studied Interior Design and received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in the spring of 2009. While in school, I was introduced to new aspects of sustainable design, the software programs AutoCAD and Photoshop, and the latest in computer rendering technology, Revit Architecture.

During my years in school, I was fortunate enough to have internships at four highly respected companies throughout Michigan. I have had experience at
WorkSquared; a commercial design dealership, Robert Allen Beacon Hill; a showroom at the Michigan Design Center; and  Bailey & Shamoun Interiors and  Jones-Keena & Co. Interiors, two high-end residential design firms in Metro Detroit. These experiences introduced me to the realities of the industry and greatly enhanced my design knowledge.

After graduation in the summer of 2009, I became an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers and founded Tracy Garfield Interiors. I now plan to fulfill my lifelong dream and start designing. I hope to create interiors that will enhance the lives of my clients by transforming spaces to better suit their needs.
